PREMARITAL SEX

Premarital Sex is sexual activity practiced by people before they are married. Historically, premarital sex was considered a moral issue which was taboo in many cultures and considered a sin by a number of religions, but since about the 1960s, it has become more widely accepted, especially in Western countries.

Prevention – It’s one thing to know that we should flee sexual immorality, but you may be wondering, “How do I do it?”

Here are seven ways that you can avoid the sin that can destroy you and your future:

1. Sexual sin starts in the mind, so win the war there first by studying the Bible. Fill your mind with God’s Word.

2. Stay in church. The more you hear the Word and stay close to other Christians, the better you will keep your focus on spiritual things.

3. Don’t ever go out alone with a person you know will tempt you or easily give in to sexual sin.

4. Don’t allow yourself to be alone with the opposite sex in a place where temptation is easily fostered.

5. Stay away from sexually suggestive books, magazines, photos, or Web sites that will stir up sexual desires.

6. Build relationships of accountability with parents and strong Christian friends. When going through a trying time, let them know and ask for their help.

7. Make up your mind. Never retreat. Let every new friend you meet know you are committed to sexual purity.

CAUSES :

Premarital sex among teenagers is mainly caused by curiosity, the media and the lack of sex education. … That is the reason why they want to have premarital sex. Apart from this factor, another reason can result in this imagination. Another reason is that teenagers having premarital sex are often influenced by the media.

EFFECT : Findings revealed that pre-marital sex among the youth in the University has a number of effects and consequences on the youth. Some of the consequences include HIV/STIs, Regrets, Unwanted pregnancy, loss of self respect, loss of family support, Depression and victims to rituals among others.

CONCLUSION :

Premarital sex should not be encouraged in any form, especially as a social norm, in relationships as it is implied in the Divine Command that it is unethical and harmful when done outside of marriage. It is not only a violation of the religious belief but it also stirs confusion as to whether the intimacy shown is genuine and sincere, or not. Teenagers who also engage in this activity may also let their schooling suffer and build insecurities unknowingly, or worse, get unwanted teenage pregnancy as in the case of sexually active female teenagers. Having sex inside of marriage, on the other hand, prevents emotional strain or possible break-ups or divorce in the future. Making this choice also glorifies God in a sense that they have preserved their virginity and fulfilled the very purpose of sex within the bounds of marriage. The approach may be ideal but it does not mean it cannot be realistic. I believe that the greatest love story one can have is a love story created by the same Author who designed sex as gift for two persons who truly and sincerely love each other.
